Pew Unveils Pioneering Technology to Help End Illegal Fishing

“Project Eyes on the Seas is designed to transform the current very expensive and patchy system of information gathering and enforcement into a global system for identifying and tracking illegal fishing vessels that is far more cost effective. This system will enable authorities to share information on those vessels operating outside of the law, build a comprehensive case against them, track them into port or within reach of enforcement vessels, and take action against them,” said Joshua Reichert, executive vice president of The Pew Charitable Trusts, who leads Pew’s environment work.”

Maybe we can stop expediting extinction of species with the technology.

Questions, answers about the federal campus safety law

Questions, answers about the federal campus safety law:

Pros and cons about the Clery law. I work at a college and above all students must feel safe before learning can happen. It is about time that universities, of all types private and public – 2 year or 4 year, are transparent on reporting incidences of rape and drugs or other crimes. Parents and students should be alerted to possible dangers on campus.
A lot of my students over the years have felt safe based on ignorance of the nature of crimes perpetrated on campuses. They learn but many experience date rape or other compromising situations.
These are fresh, curious young people and they are our future. Don’t they deserve better from institutions or higher learning and academia in general?

Cease-and-Desist Served on AIM |

Blued Treescreated by eco-artist Aviva Rahmani, consists of trees in the line of destruction on which a blue sine wave is painted. One such tree is one note in the score. One-third mile of these notes constitutes one full measure in the symphony.

A Cease-and-Desist Demand has been served on the Algonquin Gas Transmission LLC. That corporation seeks to condemn the private property in Peekskill, NY, on which the overture for the project was installed on June 21, and copyrighted.”

Use of eminent domain for corporations to increase profits is questionable at best.
